Has anyone made any money?

Postby pennsteve » Mon Mar 23, 2009 1:27 am

Aside from putting advertisements on a site for ad revenue, has anyone here sold any of their games? I dont mean just for ipod, but for windows also.

Thanks.

I personally didn't sell any of my games - still working on my skills :P And if I feel I have the skills and enough time, then I'd need to upgrade to commercial license first.

But I know that there are a few games made with AM that have been sold, e.g.
Lifestream by Unimatrix Productions
Lunar Deep by AncientRein Gaming
several games by MDNA games
Scavenger Hunter by Skye (Sagewood Software)

+ certainly a few more that I forgot to mention or never knew about.

From what I understand, these folks are making money using AM:

Virtue Games! - http://www.virtuegames.com/
Demo from AM Game Download Site - MAYABIN DEMO - http://www.virtuegames.com/Mayabin%20Demo.exe
Previews of their other games - http://www.virtuegames.com/free_downloads.htm
NACAH - No longer available at the AM Games site as a download but here is the walkthrough link - http://www.justadventure.com/Walkthroughs/Nacah/Nacah.shtm

I believe also MDNA also sells their games as well.

MDNA- http://www.mdna-games.com/

Perhaps you can contact them directly for inquiries. :)

Well, HTH! :)

-------------[EDIT]-----------------------

Okay, I just saw Mystery's reference to MDNA  ...but I'll go ahead and leave the link information in just for ease of access. ;)

Cya!

Unfortunately, I don't think Virtue Games is making much money these days- their publisher's website doesn't seem to exist anymore, and I still haven't gotten a reply to an email I sent to Cheyenne yet (he's the guy behind the games).

EDIT: In fact, I can't even access their website anymore. Bummer.

Hmmm, very strange. I just accessed their site yesterday...that's how I got the links. I even tried just now and got to watch some of the preview of Mayabin. Even their download link worked.

Very puzzling...

Making free plugin's won't make you rich either, but it's an enrichment of the mind and tons of fun :D

Hi there...:)

I would imagine if someone is going to sell games..they would have to be Adventure/point and click--Big games...not just escape 2-3 room games. Only because there are so many free ones on the internet. Or be really well known first- and make really good games.
..The only ones I purchase are big adventures..BigFish, CSI...they have to be of that ilk. That's me anyways...Although i've often wondered if it would be worth to sell a game for even a 1$ or something...lol...But the thing is you have to be aware of the textures and icons..etc.. and all items used to make your games---If you use other ppl's art work..
Most distribute for free, cause you are distributing for free as well--so to speak. When you start selling, you have to get permission...and some just won't give it..that is their terms of usage. Or of course use all of your own artwork..:)

Peace~

Correct Mystery, it always make me feel happy when I receive positive feedback or see a project using a plugin... in fact that is one of my main motivation reasons :D

I'm sure this applies to all members when creating something...

I only make money through ad revenue. I dont make games good enough to sell. I just figured I would ask to see if any of you sell your games.
