360 degree panorama

Postby pennsteve » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:36 pm

If this was posted before, I cant find it. Can someone please make a tutorial on how to make a panorama for a game? I saw in another post (cant find it) where I think mercedes mentioned taking over 100 pictures for just one side of the panorama. If I wanted to make a game of my kitchen and do it as a 360 degree panorama, how many pictures would I need? Would I take one photo, move the camera a little, take another, and so on?

Thanks.

This might be also helpful:

And here is help for the cubic panorama plugin (with external links for explanations for different software):

I had a problem with this plugin,

I have an image with an aspect ratio of 10, it seems that the largest ratio for this plugin is 6, so my image jumps up and down.

On a side note, photoshop is superb for stitching images together, use the demo if you have a one off project to do.

Something else i noticed was that my camera has the lense situated off centre, this introduced some paralax error. In other words the lense didnt rotate on the tripod centre, it spun outside of it. This reduced slightly the quality of the panorama image.
