RELEASED: KeyGuard 4.1.1 demo with animated bitmap cursors!

Postby ShadowHunter » Fri Apr 24, 2009 11:07 pm

Hey all,

After several weeks of work and tons of feedback from beta testers I did not only manage to make version 4.0.0 bug free but also added some great new features in version 4.1.1 :D

Many of saw already the compiled demo but now the actual plugin, source demo and user manual are available for dowload :D

What's new:

1. Added support for animated bitmap cursor, watch the demo it's really GREAT... I'm so pleased with this effect
2. Added methods for bitmap cursor movement limitation, so the bitmap cursor is only rendered in a user defined area
3. Added support for hotspot rotation in addition to cursor rotation for creating incredible puzzels
4. Possibility to start bitmap cursor rendering via frame properties, now you can immediately start a frame with a bitmap cursor
5. Fixed error when starting full screen
6. Fixed resetlastframe command when reloading the same frame
7. Fixed SetCursor command to coordinates of AM instead of screen coordinates
8. Fixed possible pixel shift on rotated images
9. Fixed blank screen issue when using transitions but no bitmap rendering
10. Fixed several minor issues and cosmetics

The demo:

The demo shows a small game using:

1. Animated bitmap cursors with hover effects (ghost and candle)
2. Dynamically updating the whole frame via KeyGuard (lightning effect)
3. Loading hotspots via random timers (spooky light in mansion window)
4. Use of keystrokes (start, restart and exit)
5. Alternative methode for displaying text then the AM default way (messages on top, with transparancy)

I'm sure the demo will convince you why I like to call KeyGuard 4 the Extreme Gaming Interface for AM

You can download the plugin and source demos from my website, you can either download the full package or only the plugin.

http://www.shadowhunter.co.uk

Please let me know should you encounter any problems

Thank you for your intrest, I hope you'll like it :D

With best regards,

ShAdOwHuNtEr

Alternative methode for displaying text then the AM default way (messages on top, with transparancy)

The messages thing..is awesome..!! I've wanted that for so long.. I don't like the bouncing the messages do--You know when one displays....I gather it doesn't do that anymore Shadow..?

I can't wait for release..animated cursors! ..This is fantastic..:D

By the way,....I'm having difficulty keeping up with your plugins Mister!

Hi all,

Thanks for your nice comments :D I hope no one encountered problems whilst playing the demo?

[EDITED]@Mercedes: you can try it, I made sure (with your problem in mind) that you can start the game using mouse clicks too

The displaying text is coded in AM, you don't need KeyGuard for that... no it does not show the pop-up frame

Well, off to updating the user manual...

With best regards,

This was absolutely great. Too bad that I can't start projects on my own since I can't design the graphics. I 'll try to make something without too much of an effort but probably it won't go out of my hdd...

Since he gets a lot of spam, sometimes he might miss a regular email.
He is checking the forums regularly, therefore I would suggest you to send him a private message :)

Hi drummerac,

Sorry for the late reply... Mystery is correct, I receive approx. 500 mails per day on my domain email... hence some are lost in the spam filter.

I was also abroad yesterday, unable to read my mails... so no worries

I have access to my home computer (where I have the keygenerator) this evening arround 7.00PM, I'll make sure the first thing I do is send you a key 8)

BTW: Thank you for your very generous donation. That is really appriciated :D

With best regards,

ShAdOwHuNtEr

Hi ShadowHunter,

In the animated cursor demo, just seconds after I click start I get this error page which displays the following... (It even repeats the error!)

I've tried it again, but cannot reproduce the error.
Can you reproduce it? And if you can, what exactly are you doing?

Sometimes I get this with Keyguard and the errors cascade like crazy down the screen..--But it's something I'm doing-- wrong scripting--

When it happened to me, i was using an improper cursor and or path to get to cursor..I was trying the default one at the time and a few others..

Any chance u we're trying out cursors/icons at the time..?

I did nothing; I just tried the demo to see what it was like. When the demo starts, I can see the options like start game etc... So I click start with the mouse, the animated ghost cursor appear and boom, the error message.

Also, it is hard to exit that page since the feature to exit via Esc. is disabled.

Mystery & mercedes...

The demo crashes so fast I did not even notice the x option to quit especially that the demo stretches big time on my monitor as it is not locked on a particular size.

So far I have no problem with the other demo, thought. The one with the shredded scroll puzzle that is, which is odd.

Sounds like it might be these two issues here..maybe..?

4.Possibility to start bitmap cursor rendering via frame properties, now you can immediately start a frame with a bitmap cursor
5. Fixed error when starting full screen

Which is why i wondered if it was downloaded a while ago..or only today..

I'm going to download it now too..I was going to wait for new pc..But I can try this now..new pc is gonna take a bit longer..

By the way You press X on the keyboard..not on screen..But I guess u don't want to open up demo and do this all day right..
Just thought i'd mention it..:D

Peace

Thanks reneuend,

I'm happy to learn you gave it a try and like it :D Cannot wait to see what you came up with

BTW: I'm almost done with another major release... I'm so, so pleased with it... took me, so far, 3 months to code part one of the plugin... yes, it features 2 modules... but no worries NOT a single line of code must be used :D

Expect more detail in the comming weeks.

Again, thank you for your nice comments and good luck.
