Anyone play BigFish Game's Time Stand Still?

Postby Kat12 » Wed May 20, 2009 6:55 pm

Hi,
I was just playing a BigFish Game called Time Stands Still...it's a Carol Reed Mystery. It looks like it could have been made with AM...it even has the same little initial load page, exactly the same as AM's, right down to the box allowing you to change the screen size.
Has anyone played it?
Thanks,
Kathy

The Nyqvist's first game, Remedy, was made with AM and maybe the second, but I think after that they switched to Wintermute because of the save/load and other features. They used to come to the forums from time to time and were quite nice. You might try sending them email to ask which engine they are now using.

I would say it was made with AM by the look of it.
No demo so can't tell for sure.
There is a demo

It looks like you're right, Candle. The last two Carol Reed games (East Side Story and Color of Murder) were made with Wintermute. The first (Remedy) was made with AM, so probably the 2nd and 3rd (Hope Springs Eternal and Time Stand Still) were as well.

Wow, how interesting that they made the first games with AM and then Wintermute. I've never heard of Wintermute before; I googled it and it looks great. I wish I knew how to write script.
I found more free games to play too, lol.
Thanks for answering me Imari and Candle.

I've dug my heels in so deep with AM, I couldn't imagine trying a new game engine! But, being curious in nature, I'm going to go take a peek! Shhhhhhh!

lol.

I 've tried WM already and it's usually my first suggestion to anyone wanting to create Runaway-like 3d person Adventures (I hope you 've played Runaway: A road Adventure)

I didn't know how to script in that language back then though. If I remember right it's a C++ like language.

Time Stand Still was indeed made with Adventure Maker. We switched to Wintermute after that due to lack of Vista support in Adventure Maker (which was fixed not long after that).

Adventure Maker is still what I recommend for people that want to try their hand on an adventure game, because of the short learning curve and no or little need for scripting.
