I'm italian and I hope you'll understand my problem

I mean: I hope I'll manage to make you understand my problem! ^^

I've done my first game with this program, I've made the .exe file and uploaded it in my web space. I've downloaded it, to see if I could do it. Everything is fine. But there is this problem: when I've installed my game, I've played it and it works exactly as I wanted. But when my friends plays the game, they have problems I don't have! How is that possible? I mean: in my game if I enter in a room, I cannot enter in that room anymore, how is it possible that my friends can do that?

Oh my... I really hope I've managed to explain the problem

When this happens, it usually means that you used a codex that you did not included in your EXE file. The game plays on your computer, but not on another computer without the codex.

However, this sounds more like a problem with a simple exit/hotspot that should disappear. So I'm puzzled and I can't think why the hotspot should work for you, but not for your friends. Are you sure that you uploaded the same EXE file that you installed and played yourself?

It might also help to know the version of AM that you are using (full or free?) and how you coded the problem area(s) in the AM editor.

Best of luck in figuring this out.

I'm using the full version (AM 4.5.2), but now that I think of it, I'm almost sure I've put on the site the same version of the file.exe. By the way I've had so many problems with my first game, that I'm starting to hate that game, lol!

I'll try with an other game I'm starting now and see what happen next.

P.S.: what this "codex" could be?

And yes, now I'm sure the file.exe is absolutely the same, cause I've downloaded it again and it works correctly on my pc.

Hi there...:D

So I understand this...

You have a room, that you can enter it..and when u are done--doing whatever---you should not be able to enter that room anymore..? Yet your friend can still enter that room again..?

This is probably just a variable issue..
Because you made the game, you would play it in sequence..However maybe your friend plays it differently..?

Check the variables..perhaps one of them is still at 0...
Give him the exact walkthru of your game..[How u play it]..see if it works that way...Tell him to do the exact thing you did..

Let us know...:)
From the sounds of it..Your friends can play the game..only the game play is not going to plan..?..Can they actually play the game..?

Peace

Hi Bianconiglio,

If you use an movie file or audio file with compression, you need to include the codex that was used to compress it with your game. For instance, if you use an AVI file in the game compressed with DivX, then the player of the game will need to have the DivX decoder codec on his computer in order to play it.

It seems to be one of the leasding reasons why people are unable to play a specific AM game, but doubt this is your problem.

I can't think what your problem can be, though perhaps Mercedes is onto something. I don't know. Sorry.

I thank you all for your help. I think I tried to make a too complicated game for the first time. I'll try to do an other game with less variables and see what happen next time.
