Daily Freeware Blog

Postby General Failure » Mon Sep 14, 2009 9:36 pm

Hello Community,

I post here in 'working together' because I think, the only payment that a freeware game developer gets, is that players play it, so someone should write about it and offer the games to the gamers.

I've started a new blog, that reports about the freeware adventure game scene. Enjoy:

http://www.retroadventures.de

It's in german, but maybe some of you can understand it.

I'm beginning to wish I had chosen German instead of Spanish last year... Any chance there'll be an English translation later?

I was thinking about an english version, but I don't know how I should realize it. My own english isn't that perfect and if I worked together with someone else, I couldn't guarantee to be as fast as with a german-only site.

Maybe I'll find a way in the future, for now it will be only german.

Thanks for you kind words.

I know quite a bit german, but spanish is a far more poetic language :)

That's true, and much easier to learn. Sometimes I wish, english would me the native language in Germany. Some things would be much easier.

Ok. now the same for non-german users :)

I like the idea of a german game-site.
I have a lot of reguests for german game pages.

I also have a lot of reguests if Adventuremaker is available in german or a german forum or helping guide.

A lot of my friends are interested in to buuld a game, but their english is much worses then mine.

:D :D :D

Whoops, you speak English well enough that most people would think it was your native tongue.

I wonder how hard it would be to convert some of my games to German? If I try it, is there some German-speaking folks willing to go through it and clean up after me?

Oooooo....my games all have speaking parts in them. I have to speak it too? I'm doomed!

I was thinking about 'Major Mistake' or 'Colonel Panic' but hey, what's better than being a general?

really? I don't recall a "ShadowHunter" on TV, but I have rarely watched any TV in the past several years.

I remember watching "Dark Shadows" as a kid. Do you remember that series?

Sorry that I come back to this so late.

I don't know much about Adventure Maker, I've played a bit around with it, but didn't use it really intensively.

So I don't know if there is a translation option available, like it is in other engines like AGS, where you can export a translation file that can be edited by someone else and being re-imported after it's finished.

If you're planning to release games in german, you would have to extract all the german text into a text file or something. I could offer my help to look over it and correct the mistakes and send it back to you. As far as I remember, most of the AM games don't have so much text, so I think it wouldn't be a big deal.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start with a single project, so I can see how much work it really is.

Sorry for double posting, but for those who wanted to read the Freeware-Blog in english, you can use

This Link.

It's only filtering the page through the google translator, but as the news postings on the blog are very simple and short, the output of the translator is mostly understandable.

fanadventures.de has now a forum for german discussions about freeware adventure games. There's nobody registered until now and I know that there will be not much people who will be interested, but I wanted to have that feature, just to see how it works.
