Dialogue in text baloons?

Postby Bzyk » Tue Oct 06, 2009 12:11 pm

Hello, Friends,

I am preparing for my new game. This time I would like to create the dialogues in comic style - with text baloons.

OK, I can place some baloon in .gif file as a hot spot, but when I try to place some text in it, this text is always behind the hot spot.

I understand that SubMaster plugin could be helpfull. But this is another problem for me. I installed plugin, started demo added to this plugin and... nothing happened. This must be my fault, but I can't clear it up...

Help! :P

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but did you go to the project properties and make sure that the checkbox was marked for this plugin?

Sorry! Told you it was a dumb question! :)

Unfortunately, I haven't used this plugin. If no one else has a suggestion, I would suggest contacting the author (if possible).

Simply I am wondering if that kind of dialogue is possible at all... Any suggestion will be appreciated. :)

I think it would be possible, but you would have to build your own plugin to get around this issue.

You might try using Keyguard's hotspots. It builds it own pseudo-hotspots. I'm guessing this would probably work.

Try using the KeyGuard plugin. It doesn't require knowing Visual Basic.
You should be able to use it effectively by reading the documenation that comes with it, reviewing the demo's code, and looking at some of the demo's in the tutorial forum.

This might be a good tutorial to create, if it actually works! I'll test it out. If it works, I'll build a tutorial and let you know.

I forgot about this!

I better keep my promise and see if I can do this concept with KeyGuard.

coming soon....

What I've tried so far is not practical. I have an idea though. It's based on the AM Journal plugin. basically you would have placeholders (hotspots) for each alphanumeric character that would be printed on top of the balloon. Since the balloons are themselves hotspots, it will require that the balloons come first in the hotspot order. I'll test this and see if it is practical.
