Regarding the first method:

I could probably write a small program to register the DLLs post-installation.

I question whether that would work, though... I think the code might have to be re-written. :(

I also have installed windows 7 now and I'm very impressed.
The sound with AM_.games also works when you do what drdna said:
deactivate Mediaplayer 12 and install an other programm like realplayer and make it default.
But this is no solution for the users.
So I get an idea: why not using flash files to play sounds?
I never had worked with flash in AM, but I know it's possible.
If you make a flash file just with sound it should work.
Of course you can't use the play sound tab in AM, you have to do it with script.

What do you think of this idea? Is anyone here who worked with flash in AM?

It would just be a temporary workaround :(

Too bad I don't have W7 to work on the matter...

Sure it is just a tempory workaround, but it would also run on a customers machine.

Edit: I have tested it now with the flash plugin and it works

Will sounds play over multiple frames using Flash? Will they loop? Also, can multiple sounds be played at once (up to 8 channels)? What about crossfading?

My suspicion is that, even if all of the above points work, it will be too problematic for those of us with large projects (over 1000 frames) to convert all audio to Flash format and edit all our frames. :?

It's a good idea, though!
