Problems with AM v4.5.2 free version! Three errors in a row!

Postby Brynjolfr » Mon Feb 01, 2010 9:10 pm

When launching AM for the first time after installation I get this message:

And after clicking "Ok" I get this one:

After I've clicked New Project and chosen what platform the game should be for, I get this message:

I click "Ok", then the program quits.

I'm on a Vista x64 computer; could it have something to do with that?

Then u may have to find it..on the internet and when u unzip it..make sure u do it to C:windows/system directory

I'll see if i can't find it..:)

EDIT**

You can find it HERE

then re-register it..

Incidentally..u could try and re-install AM..making sure u are the admin..when u do..

you should always install AM and other software using Administrator access on a Vista machine. Try locating the requested ocx in AM's installation folder or anyware on your machine with the Search function of windows and if you find it, register it with the regsvr32 command manually.

I ran the installation as administrator, put the MSCOMCTL.OCX file into system32 and registrated it. However, I still get the errors when launching the program :(

I think with a Vista...you unzip it..or install it..in the System's folder...I think it's System32--for XP...Not sure if that'll make a difference..

Incidentally...when u registered AM--to Full version..Did everything go ok..? Did u follow all of the prompts..?..

I've no idea what you mean with "Full version". The version I'm having trouble with is the free one.

I can register MSCOMCTL.OCX without any problems (not RICHTX32.OCX, though) but I still get the same errors.

It's because of one..that u may still be getting the error...Ok..Uninstall AM..a clean un-install...go through Windows Explorer--
Then register both components..make sure you get the message that says they have been registered correctly--Also make sure you put them in the right folder--important.

Then install AM again....see what happens..:)

Here is where u get the other component..:)

Incidentally..it may be another component that may be causing it..You can read about it here..

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896559 Where is says "cause" then under it is Resolution..Not sure..but..might be why..

I've tried installing the program to my XP computer, and it runs well on it! For that reason I ain't wasting more time trying to make it run on my Vista computer. It's like trying to make a dead bird fly; it's a lost cause :P

Ok..well .. it is made for XP-32 bit--so..It's probably best you do it that way..:)

Out of curiosity:

If someone sees this thread, I would like to see if it would work..Trying the way I mentioned..
Starting off with just the 2 components--or the pack.....

From info that I have read, it sounds like it's because of some Controls--i.e. list boxes, and or that the ap uses-VB5 and later versions of Windows use VB 6 for controls..?

..It's my understanding that AM uses VB 5..

The only reason why I mention or are curious to see if it would work..Is so that all know for sure, it's a dead issue..Quote-make a dead bird fly un-quote...:P..
I had a game once..I had to register 4 files..to play it..

That being said;

It would have to be someone that knew how to back up their registry..ect. or the version of the libary file they have.
This way, if it didn't work-or caused problems..They could then roll back time..so to speak..or do what measures they needed-That would be important..

Ok well..---really happy to see it's working for you..!~ :D..
