Tutorial For Start Menu and Shadow Hunter's Rain Generator

Postby arienram » Wed Feb 10, 2010 11:53 pm

I started this as a small game to learn the great Rain Generator developed by ShadowHunter. Then decided it would make a great tutorial for others. So you can play the game, (Its short), then select the tutorial option, and see how it all went together. Due to a nude figure, I have to classify it in the adult range, but basically it's there to teach. It's aimed more in the new beginner range for Adventure Maker. I added a short tutorial for those who haven't caught up with how to construct your own start menu screen. For those who down load this first public effort, I hope you find it entertaining, and informative.
Special acknowledgement to StormHunter for his Rain Generator.

I am interested in creating point and click games involving human themes and martial arts. In other words, action, adventure.

My first tutorial

Thanks for having a look at it, Mystery. Your positive response will help me try to set up some more efforts for the site, or maybe a game. Problem is that I'm only on dial-up, so uploading can be a time exersize. To be honest, your tutorial on the variables and game creation was an inspiration.

Hi arien
I get an error when I try and install this
And as I see Mystery frequents here, perhaps I can get some help.
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: DllRegisterServer failed; code 0x80070020

This is on C:\Windows\system32\Msdxm6.ocx (which wasn't there but was in WOW64 so I copied to system32 and tried registering it there but same error.
I then unloaded msdxm.ocx and tried to load msdxm6 but same error (in both places).

All running as admin

It seems to have a real problem with msdxm6.ocx

Ta
Mort

ps, feel free to move this to techie place if deemed more apt.

Hi arien
I chose ignore error and continue, and it installed and ran fine.
No idea if that was a good idea or not.

Nice tut, easy to follow.
Thanks for taking the time.

This error often occurs when you install a game made with AM while Adventure Maker is open.
Was this the case?

Try to re-install the game, but make sure that Adventure Make is not running :)

Error in 'Girl In The Rain'.

Postby arienram » Mon Jul 05, 2010 7:45 pm

Hi Mortelini, sorry I didn't get back and answer your error problem with my tutorial. Haven't been logged in in a while. I'm glad you got it up and running and that you found it informative. This program, (Adventure Maker) has so much to offer, and I'm always looking for ways to bring out its versitility. Hope your having fun making your own story worlds.
Cheers, Arien.
