If AM does not like your wav files... it's not a bug!

Just a tip, if you encounter something similar.

Today I had trouble getting some wav files to work with AM. I had recorded them with iPad, using iRig Recorder. No problem playing them with WinAmp in Win7, but AM did not play them in the sound preview when importing and threw an error at me when I had assigned the sounds to hotspots and ran the project. Needless to say, there was no sound.

Fortunately, I had seen this before, in WinXP, using a different piece of software, and with different audio samples I found from somewhere.

The trick is to open up the wav files in audio editor, I had Audacity for example, and save them. After that, they work in AM.

Apparently, not all wav files are created equal.

No, they are not :) I had quite much trouble with programs not knowing all formats, but by any converter or audio editor that can open the file, you can save it in another format, which will hopefully be more widespread.

Yes, wavs just like txts etcetera are a little bit OS-dependent.

There are games that only allow low-22050Hz.
Maybe the music was over 44100Hz and recording with Audacity, got 22050Hz?
Maybe that?

It's most likely or a bit-rate issue, as PINGO TINTO noted. Sometimes, wave files that are over 44100Hz will not work properly in some programs. The same goes for wave files that 32-bit, as opposed to 16-bit.

Both wav files, the non-working and the working one, open up in Audacity as 44100Hz. Perhaps Windows format is somehow different from iOS (Apple), or the original one is not a wav, even if the extension is that. But, iRig Recorder is supposed to save uncompressed wav files, so go figure.

Anyways, I got it working, so I'm happy :D
