Congratulations!

There have been many months of hard work, but it looks splendid.

I have no PSP but will recommend it to my friends.

Good job.

Epic project for PSP! :D
Congrats!

Vairon: You don't need a PSP device, you can play it on your web browser using an emulator.

NOTE: I moved the Game release information to this forum and removed from other forums. Also, I changed the subject to show the title and platform. These are based on forum rules. Could you imagine if everyone put their released game in a thread in each forum?

OK. I downloaded the zip file. I'll play it later today.
Suggestion: Add instructions to your site on how to play from a PC. This will widen your audience.

Sorry reneuend! I got carried away! I was so excited for finishing it, I wanted to tell everyone!

The title isn't completely accurate (PSP) because the game is also available for smart phones. (I exported the game for iphone as well - there's instructions on the site on how to play the game and have sound on android phones)

Also mentioned on the FAQs on the site, is that if you don't have a working portable browser, you can play the game on your PC.

The easiest way, without downloading anything, would be to here:

Oh my word! This game is so awsome! For the next issue of BBB (w/ permission from reneuend) I will write a review for it! This is an amazing project. Very original. Yet inspired by another game. I really like it! :D

I have an update. There's good news and bad news.

First, the bad. There was a mistake in my coding toward the end of the game. Long story short, it was impossible to get to the last boss the legitimate "beat all the bosses" way. (I tested more the "non-legitimate" way to beating the game. Yes, there's a secret to getting to the last boss very quickly.) The good of the bad news is that it was only accessing the last boss which was flawed. Everything else was fine.

The good news is, I fixed the problem completely. All the files/links/online-game on thefieldofkings.com website are fixed and updated. None of the file sizes changed because it was a simple line of coding that got overlooked. Its all good now.

The bad of the good news is there's no patch so to speak. It requires a re-download, and re-install. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Some more good news, I've had multiple people ask me... how long does it take to beat the game? Well, I decided to find out... and document it.

Here's a video of a The Field of Kings speedrun so to speak. How long it takes from the start of the game, to unlock the seal to The Ineffable King Edward (last boss). Surprisingly, it was just a little over 12 minutes. I'm guessing with beating the boss, assuming you knew exactly what you were doing (much like in this video) it would barely be more than 13-14 minutes to completely beat the game. Be wary of spoilers. This video reveals boss locations and quite a few enemy weak spots.

My ! What a big piece of work !
I see people here are very motivated !
Hguols, the graphics of your game are really nice, they fit perfectly to a psp game of that kind ! How did you do them ?
I'm sorry I don't have both a psp or a smartphone to try your game, seems to be a very complete project !
Glad I could see a video on the project page !

Thanks Simon! The game scenery is generate by Sword of Moonlight. Its a "King's Field Making Tool" by the company From Software, something that was only released in Japan, but a friend of mine translated it to English.

The enemy sprites are from a Playstation One game called Shadow Tower. It wasn't well received in the US, but is also part of the King's Field series family. The game is also by From Software.

This is definitely inspired by Shadow Tower and Kings Field. Or at least uses similar or the same artwork. Thats not a bad thing, I loved those games. Looks great.

Oh, should have read the post above explaining its connection to Sword of Moonlight. Anyways this is great. Kings Field heavily influenced my game, Escape from Weston, which is also on here.

I sent an e-mail to GM support about my game. Essentially I thanked him for making the game-maker program and showed him what I did with it. Here's the reply:

Hello Thomas,

Wow, thanks so much for your email!!!

I really appreciate it!!!

I have played a little bit of your game and it seems really fantastic!!!!!

Thanks again!!
Best regards,
Giovanni
