Help?

Postby blueboo » Thu May 09, 2013 10:28 pm

Hello everyone! I need some help with a game I'm making. I finished my game and uploaded it to a Weebly website but when you try to play the game on a iphone the game doesnt work. It just shows the first screen and you can't click on anything.

Is there a way to fix this, and if not where are some other places I could try and upload my game.

Does the game work on Iphone okay? Have you tested it on an Iphone?
If it works, then here are a couple points:
1. Did you try deleting it from the server and reuploading it just in case it was corrupted.
2. How did you upload the file to the site? Did you FTP by binary or text? Text should have worked, but binary will always work. I'm not even sure if this is an issue with today's FTP technology...usually it automatically detects which is the correct type.
3. Try uploading to a site like Mediafire or gamefront and then test downloading it.

I don't use Iphone, so maybe someone else out here has some pointers.
Please post back with any results.

Best of luck!

I tried most of toughs and they didn't work.

Some other notes:
- I don't know if this is a problem or not but when I try to open the Index file from my computer the game doesn't work.
- I've looked for other Adventure Maker games on weebly sites and none of them work.

What OS are you running?
What version of AM are you using?
Can you upload your game files for someone to look at them?

Ok uhh
Windows 7 (thats what an operating system is right?)
Version 4.7.1
You should be able to download the game files off the website

I would STRONGLY suggest placing all of the files in a ZIP or RAR file. You can use Win7's built in tool, or better, Download at: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Thanks!

I'll get back to you as soon as I've had a chance to look at it. The reason I wanted zipped into 1 file is so anyone downloading it won't get discouraged with having to download a multitude of files.

Could it be that Weebly uses a database for the files, that is, they do not reside in the same directory.

EDIT

Forgot to add that you could make a Dropbox account and upload your game there. Just make the game directory public.

Would the game be accessible on an iphone?

Game directory public what does that mean?

Yes, it will be in fact accessible with every browser. That means iPad, too.

Dropbox:

https://www.dropbox.com

A public folder is visible to internet, you can then put up a link to a file in the public folder. In this case it would be the starting html file of your game. Here are instructions how to set up a public folder with dropbox:

https://www.dropbox.com/help/16

Give me a minute or twenty, I'll put a demo up on my dropbox account.

EDIT

Here it is (yes, I did the animation!)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16232451/index.html

HINT: Click on the crystal ball to move to the next frame.

To set up your own game, follow these steps:

1. Set up a Dropbox account
2. Create a Public folder (see the instructions in the link https://www.dropbox.com/help/16)
3. Upload your game files to the Public folder
4. Go to the Public folder in your dropbox control panel, right click on the "index.html" file name and select "Copy public link" from the menu
5. Paste the link here so we can try your game out!

Hope this helps. If you want to put up multiple games, you can always have subfolders within the Public folder.

A open blue box with chains and a lock came up when I tried to open the index file. What do I do?

How far did you go with the steps 1., 2., 3., 4., 5., before you got that "blue box"?
