I have a timer that I use to keep time. Unfortunately, it looks like the
timer interferes with regular user events, especially adding/removing
items in inventory. What results is some sort of error message and
two items are added to inventory instead of one.

Hi,
What kind of timer are you using? How did you create it?

For the project properties, I created a simple counter by including it in the VBScript
execution for each frame when it appears
The timed event fires off an event to check the time and increment the counter. When
an inventory item is added seems to be when the error occurs most frequently.
