Save the Earth - pics

Postby Mystery » Mon Jun 05, 2006 2:30 am

I'm working on a new point-and-click adventure.
The main plot: Your mom was kidnapped by extraterrestrials who want to take over the Earth. Your task is to save your mother and to prevent the extraterrestrials from occupying the Earth. Since I have little time now, I progress slowly. However I have already lots of game screens and a first part is already made in AM. Here some screenshots:

Your game sounds pretty cool. Can't wait. You used google sketch up for the graphics didn't you? I can tell because I use that alot too. I plan on using it for my next project.

Yeah, I tried out Google Sketchup, but not only. I'm still using Cyber Motion 3D-Designer for most of my screens, but for some of them (especially road pictures) I used Google Sketchup. It's going to be a mixed game in this regard

It's going to take some time to finish it but I hope that it will be ready before summer ends.

I like the pics, Mom_room5a is the best I think, plus the first road scene with the man.

Nice compositions, Mystery!

For alternative software that's inexpensive, you might take a look at Daz Studio (which is free from http://www.Daz3D.com), Bryce 5.5 (also from Daz and about $100 US), Vue 5 Easel ($89 US from http://www.e-onsoftware.com, and Vue 5 Esprit (also from e-on and on sale at the moment for 40% off, $149). These are all pretty easy to learn to use and give good results. There are are also a ton of free products available to use in them from Renderosity.com, 3DCommune.com, RuntimeDNA.com and other sites.

Thanks Imari! :)
I'm experimenting with different software and also trying out things in AM to gain more experience and find out what works for me the best.
So thank you for your hints, I might try out some of your suggestions.

Right now I'm trying to find out how I can make and animate some characters which is the biggest problem for me (and also here, I don't want to buy expensive and big software). But I'll find a way as the time has come

I just tried out Wings 3D. I know that I'm still far away from being good, but I think I'm on the right track (still need to learn to make hands, lol). So these are my first extraterrestrials made with Wings 3D.

Lol! Thanks for your nice words.
Yes, I guess I won't be able to make realistic human characters but aliens are pretty good because I can make them how I want (or better: can). But I still want to make better aliens for my games, this was just my first try. :)

No, I don't think that Google Sketchup is very good for creating 3D characters. I used Wings 3D. And for rendering CyberMotion 3D-Designer.
