New World (On Hold)

Have to wait till Harvester can start on the story again.

NEW WORLD written by G?bor B?ndi Aka Harvester

In 2012. the conflict between the United States and Russia starts again. The rivalisation begins as a peaceful technological competition. The US has more developed military technologies, while Russia and the eastern countries which joined him have powerful technologies in science. The Russians are the first to develop a working method of human hybenration. In this year the conflict turns into a war. As a test, a hybernated man and woman, two prisoners of war are shot into the space by the Russians. The spaceship is programmed to return ten years later. However ten years was a long time: in this period many things have changed. The war turns into a global massacre, which would be called the 3rd World War if any historians would have survived it. The small groups of people who are still living calls this conflict the Last War (however, this is not the last one... ). The constant attacks with biological weapons, nuclear missles and even more powerful tools of destruction almost killed the whole human race. There are two classes of survivors: the Elite, who escaped into the space when the things started to turn worse, and the 'lucky' ones who have only a few years to live because of the spreading diseases and other conditions.
Years have passed since the war. The survivors on the Earth (so not the Elite) gathered into tribes in the ruins of the towns of the old world, and rebuilt them as well as they could without the modern machinery. They are living in bad conditions, and the survival rate is quite low, but they can be still happy because they are still living humans. Tales of wandering hordes of mutants and giant creatures are spreading between the hopeless survivors.
However, the Elite is not about to let the mobs rule the planet which once was theirs. For years they were preparing for they return. In this time they developed some technologies. On a day they have returned, and started to massacre the mobs, siege the rebuilt cities or retake them, and conquer the scorched lands of the Earth.
So this is the new conflict of the human race, in which our story takes place.

Yes I'm using FPSC as a modeling tool for the backgrounds as it seems to work better as that then making games. lol
We hope to have the game done soon.

i should try the demo ,

wonder if you could create a game in am
launch fps and return back to am.

would make for a very cool game.

You could but the loading times for the game are way to long depending on how much of the game you make for the level. There is no save /load of games so you have to play the whole level .
The FPS on some computers just sucks really bad so that you can't even move.
Needs loads of work before it is ready to make a fps game .

I agree

Postby Harvester » Sun Aug 20, 2006 12:48 pm

I agree on this, but perhaps it would be possibel to put parts in AM games in which the player can walk around the place in whole 3d without fight or anything... then it would make he player easier to believe that he/she is there... but I don't really know. I used FPSC for a short time but didn't like it very much because I think it requires quite much hardware (so more than you would guess from the functions I think).

Just a little info about our game: website will be done soon, you'll know the address as soon as it's online

Built a one room game with FPSC with nothing in it and the game was over 34 MB .
So as you can see it would be to big to use for that purpose.

I see

I see. Then it only works at commercial games which are distributed on cds/dvds because there it doesn't matter...
